Indoor Cycling Your modern way of workout

Have you been to any Gym before? Have you ever subscribed to any fitness programs organized by the expert in the field? If not, in that case, you might not know that experts and gym have this one equipment which has now become a must equipment for proving to get rid of calories at a good rate of speed.

There is no denying in the fitness that fitness experts have said that indoor cycling is more efficient than the actual bike. However, many are arguing in the matter because the cycling is, has its benefits but can it rival the indoor cycling equipment?

To put it this way, let look at the benefits and how much can the indoor calories burn in an hour and how much it cost for you to get one at your home.

Indoor Cycling: Your Modern Way of Workout

Regular Cycle vs. Indoor Cycling

  • Regular Cycle: It’s true that nothing can replace the cycle experience and the benefits it carries when you are working out, but the colonies have now become smaller than before because o the people walking and the vehicle coming in your way to your workout. Your workout gets interrupted whenever a vehicle is coming in your way. Morning is the time where students are on their way to the school. Thus, you won’t be able to workout for more than
  • Indoor Cycling: Indoor Cycling is made for those who do not have time and space in their surroundings are affected by the modern lifestyle. Indoor cycling is active just as the outdoor cycling. There is no comparison on what they can do, and the equipment can deliver. The calories can be burned at a higher level even on the indoor cycling, and these material are very useful when you use them after a warm up.

Indoor Cycling Benefits

Indoor cycling is made for burning calories, and it is being utilized by the people who want to be fit and also lose weight. Indoor cycling is compact, and they can be stored even in the smaller areas.

Indoor cycles are made small, but they are sturdy and reliable when it comes to the build quality. The cycles can take on the weight about 200KG, and it will work very smoothly even the weight does not stop the best indoor spin bike from functioning.

Indoor cycling is very active even when the user is working out for an hour a day. You can say that even the patients who are having a health condition, when like diabetes, can workout and get rid of the ailment within a month or so or minimize the risk of disease.

Aliments are not very dreadful; especial diabetes can be get rid of it by using a spin bike. Before that, you must consult a doctor for proper advice for you to use it. Some patients are not allowed to use such equipment. You can ask your doctor before using the fitness machine.

Obesity Control

Spin bikes are considered as the weight control or get rid of weight in a matter of months. It has also proven to be the most useful equipment when it comes to their weight loss. The fitness machine used by many professionals, celebrities to get rid of the weight.

Even the famous celebs are using it to maintain their shape and personality. There is a cure for the obesity, but you can control your obesity by using the indoor cycle and it is true that hard work pays off. With dedication and interest to lose weight can get rid of the obesity.

Make a Schedule & Add few More?

Not many know that the indoor cycling can burn fat even when you are not working out. It is true that even after minutes after the workout you are losing weight and burn some calories while on your way to work.

I would suggest you that to consult a couple of doctors if you are an obese patient because few of the patients are not allowed to use this equipment because it can cause a heart attack, so it advised that you consult a doctor before jumping on to the consolation to buy an indoor cycling.

Potatoes Lowers Blood Pressure And No Weight Gain

A New Study shows that potatoes lower blood pressure and no weight gain.

The study is carried in the USA on 18 predominantly obese people with high blood pressure ate six to eight purple potatoes and their skins twice daily for one month. These subjects are taken under consideration for a period of time and results are analyzed. By the end of the study period, the average diastolic blood pressure reading (lower) had fallen 4.3 percent on average.

The systolic pressure (upper), on the other hand, had fallen by an average of 3.5 percent. Blood pressure decreases even occurred in people who were already taking antihypertensive medication.

Purple-skinned potatoes contain anti-oxidants that are more useful for the body. Most surprising results are none of the subjects under test gain weight. That will be the best news for the persons like potatoes and also don’t want to obese. The study was conducted at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania by Dr. Joe Vinson.

Potatoes’ ability to lower blood pressure and previously it was discovered that potatoes contain Anti-Hypertensive components similar to ACE inhibitors which are widely used in Anti-Hypertensive therapy. These ACE Inhibitors similar compounds are phytochemicals plant-based compounds that have been linked to numerous health benefits.

High Heel Causes Arthritis & Joints Pain

Pain From High Heels

Heel is an updating fashion. Most women love heel for looking better. Different Styles of heel are in market. 1/4th of women wear high heels every day or frequently. This statistics was found by a poll in UK. Researchers have now found a harmful risk associated with wearing of High Heel.

The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists found that high heel make a risk of getting the debilitating condition. High heels affect body posture, placing more pressure on foot, ankle and knee joints. This leads to stress to the cartilage and lead to the onset of osteoarthritis.

Pain From High Heels
Pain From High Heels

Yet the poll of 2,000 people found that 22% thought arthritis was an inevitable part of getting older and 36% of people did not know much about the condition. Poor footwear, together with increased levels of obesity and people living longer, could cause an “arthritis crisis”, the society warned. Majority of people in the UK already suffer from this painful joint arthritis condition, which causes pain and stiffness in joints, and levels are rising. Using the best treadmills could be the better option to tackle this scenario.

60% of cases are in feet and arthritis is both more common and more severe in women. “For daily wear, the recommendation is to opt for a round-toed shoe with a heel height of no more than 2-3cm (one inch) and with a shock-absorbent sole to help minimize shock to the joints.” More than three quarters of both men and women surveyed in the poll did not wear shoes specifically designed for the sport they played when exercising, also increasing the likelihood of developing osteoarthritis.

While 65% have suffered stiffness or pain in their lower body and feet, only half have sought help for their symptoms.

How to Treat Paracetamol Poisoning

Paracetamol is most widely used medicine for treatment of fever, pain and other inflammations in different famous brands like Panadol or Calpol but few of us only knows that it is potentially lethal if taken in overdose. Paracetamol overdose cause Hepato-celluar necrosis which is hall mark of its toxicity. Paracetamol is included in OTC medicines as it can purchase without any prescription. In case of suicidal attempts or cases associated with accidently intake by any person, we should know the guidelines to treat Paracetamol poisoning and measures that can decrease its potential harmful and toxic effects.

There are several factors that enhance toxic effects of Paracetamol poisoning.

Late administration of antidote.
Multiple overdosing with specific regular intervals
Person previously affect by AIDS or Glutathione deficiency.
Person taken medicines like Carbamazepine, Phenobarbitone or anit-Tb medicines like Rifampicin or Isoniazid.
Alcohol addict

Important Parameters for Initiating the Treatment

1 – Severe liver damage may occur if person intake more than 10gm of dose ( 20 tablets) in period of less than 8 hours.

2 – There is great risk of Hepato-toxicity if no treatment is giving within 8 hours.

3 -Hepato-toxicity may produced if person taken intense or sustain release doses of Paracetamol.

Symptoms of Paracetamol Toxicity

Abdominal pain, vomiting, hypoglycemia, jaundice, hepatomegaly (increase liver size).

Diagnostic test

CBC or FBC, Urea and electrolyte test, LFT, prothrombin index and sugar test should make if ingestion time is more than 8 hours.

Immediate Treatment

Administered 50% dextrose 50mL IV (NOTE: Review blood reports if patient is hypoglycemic)

Plot the serum Paracetamol level on the Paracetamol nomogram for all patients presenting between 4 and 24 h after an acute if non single ingestion of Paracetamol (if nomogram is available) . The treatment nomogram has been simplified from previously, with a single treatment line now for all patients following Paracetamol ingestion. A raised PTI (INR) or alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels >1000 IU/L define significant hepatotoxicity.

NAC Injection Administration

N-Acetyl Cysteine injection should administer to patient having ingestion within 8 hours.

Initiate administration of NAC immediately without waiting for results of diagnostic and lab values. Stop treatment if ALT or INR level drops to normal. It should also note that serum Paracetamol levels are difficult to interpret in cases of staggered ingestion. Monitor the PTI (INR) and ALT regularly instead and seek specialist toxicologist advice. For administration of NAC, use adult infusion protocol for NAC below.

(1) Accurately calculate dose of NAC. Read from the drug-insert infusion dosage guide the volume in millilitres of NAC 200 mg/ mL to be added to the 5% dextrose, according to the patient’s weight. Weight specification are:

(a) 150 mg/kg in 5% dextrose 200 mL IV over 15 min.

(b) 50 mg/kg in 5% dextrose 500 mL IV over 4 h.

(c) 100 mg/kg in 5% dextrose 1000 mL IV over 16 h.

(2) Stop the infusion :

(3) Give Promethazine 12.5–25 mg I.V and hydrocortisone 200 mg IV.

(4) Once symptoms have settled, re-commence the initial infusion at a slower rate (e.g. 150 mg/kg over 1 h).

What a Cup of Tea Can Do with Us?

According to Chinese legend, the Chinese emperor Shennong, reputed to have reigned in about 3000 BCE, accidentally discovered tea when he noted that when certain leaves fell into boiling water, a fragrant and restorative drink resulted

When we heard the word “Caffeine” the first thing comes to our mind the world most widely used chemical ingredient of the century and off course a stimulant and mind freshener . Yes it has many medicinal and healthy uses but have a little negative end that is the addiction associated with its uses and side effects of overdosing or over taking tea. Let me give you an overview of the role of caffeine in depression and pain killer and its addictive property. You should conclude after reading this article and that either caffeine have more useful aspects or negative effects!

What’s Century biggest disease?

We have entered in 21 century still failed to overcome on different problems the most common among all is depression. Half of the world is suffering in depression. Different people adopt different ways to overcome depression but the most helpful as we all knows is caffeine.

What is Caffeine How it reacts with us?

Caffeine is known medically as trimethylxanthine, isolated in pure form. The chief source of pure caffeine is the end result of the process of decaffeinating coffee and tea. It’s important to know that caffeine is an addictive drug and it operates using the same mechanisms that amphetamines, cocaine, and heroin use to stimulate the brain. but caffeine’s effects are milder than amphetamines, cocaine and heroin. Caffeine is a substance that may induce anxiety symptoms, Caffeine, the main ingredient found in coffee is a stimulant. It causes your heart rate to increase, your pupils to dilate, and your muscles to tighten up. Caffeine injects adrenalin into your system to give you a boost and make you feel good.

What Caffeine can do?

It can’t be wrong if I say take a cup of coffee keeps tension away. Coffee is actually one of the healthiest beverages billions of people consume regularly. Coffee containing with bitter orange, hydroxy citric acid, and chromium can encourage an increase up to 30% in metabolic rate.

Caffeine is a substance that may induce anxiety symptoms, and in patients with panic disorder, it may even induce panic attacks, but don’t forget excess of everything will be dangerous for health.
Negative aspects of Tea/coffee

Coffee is safe for most adults. Drinking more than 6 cups/day might cause “caffeinism” with symptoms such as anxiety or agitation. Consuming large amounts of coffee might also cause headache, anxiety, and agitation, ringing in the ears, and irregular heartbeats. Insomnia, nervousness and restlessness, stomach upset, nausea and vomiting.
What Can you conclude?

You may worry about drinking coffee thanks to periodic warnings about it stunting your growth or causing cancer and heart disease. There is research, however, that suggests that drinking a moderate amount of coffee a day could actually protect your health,so take a cup of coffee keeps your tension away.

Tips To Prevent Hair Loss

* Hair loss in women affects roughly 50%.
* 40% of men have noticeable hair loss by age 35, 65% by age 60, and 80% by age 80.
* Normal hair loss is considered to be 100 hairs per day, based on the average scalp containing 100,000 hair follicles.

1.Excessive use of Shampoo may promotes hair loss , use shampoo daily once that is sufficient for your hair. Always select mild, non-medicated, non-alkaline shampoo and avoid harsh soaps. Those who have dry hairs may follow shampoos with oil-based conditioners.
2.Use of Tobacco, alcohol and excessive caffeine intake causes dandruff and dryness to hairs that promotes hair loss.

3.Avoid use of caffeine and nicotine (Tobacco).

4.Avoid use of salts. More salts in body make more hair loss.

5.Do Head stands once daily for 5 mins . ( Head stand is a position of lowering head below body)

6.Massage scalp by hand, or with an electric vibrator or massager.

7.Mental stress and mental load cause vaso-consitriction of scalp blood vessels that make inadequate supply of blood to scalp hairs and as a result promotes hair loss. For This, Medication and mental relaxation techniques are useful.

8.Nutritional deficiencies are major cause of hair loss. Minerals are more important growth factor for hairs as compare to proteins. Mineral Deficiencies also causes greying of hairs. Use balanced diet containting mineral and organic components essentail for hairs. Zinc also play an important role in hair growth.

9.Use of fruits and juices provides anti-oxidants to the body that prevent the chemical reactions that affect the hairs or promote the hair loss.

10.Use adequate water intake daily to overcome dryness of hair and scalp. It also prevent pre-aging.

11.Old remedies for dandruff is use of Apple-cider vinegar, applied as a rinse.

12.Vitamin E massaging on sclap also prevent hair loss and dandruff.

13.Rinse your hairs immediately after swiming in chlorinated water or treated water.

14.Prolong exposure to ultra violent rays of sun cause damage to hairs. The Intensity of Sun light is maximum from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm.

15.Stress factor in teenagers also retard the growth of hairs. Teenagers should manage the stress and take everything lightly and relaxly.

16.Avoid Hair dryer machines and also the parlor hair euqipments to curl or straight the hairs.

17.Exercise and healthy and hygenic food promotes hair growth.

18.Some hair loss is due to genetic make-up. By accepting your genetic changes without any stress is the best way to cope your stress related to loss of hairs.

Parkinson’s disease is a neurological condition that affects the sufferer’s mobility and speech. It affects the central nervous system (Brain), leading to a person’s inability to control muscles throughout the body. It is a disease whose treatment does not intend to cure it but aims are controlling its manifestation. There are various ways of treatment of Parkinsonism. It may involve the use of drugs or the performance of surgery. Doctors strongly recommend exercise to keep muscles strong. It progresses gradually or severely from the early stages with mild symptoms and severe symptoms in later stages.

Objective of Treatment

The disease is a result of lowered formation and action of a brain chemical (Neurotransmitter) dopamine which is produced by the dopaminergic neurons found in the brain. This knowledge leads to the formation of drugs that will either increase the formation or mimic the actions of dopamine in the brain. This is important because an increase levels of dopamine results in of the affects of the disease. All the drugs which are used to treat Parkinson’s diseases contain dopamine as an active ingredient, regardless how it works.
Early Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease
Among the earliest forms of treatments are the anticholinergics. These were used even before the introduction of Levodopa, which is now the most widely used drug. The anticholinergics drugs administration had very little benefits as compared to its harmful side effects. These side effects include dryness of mouth, urine retention (which especially occurs among men), and very severe constipation and nausea. There are some other side effects that are more serious and the major reason for the minimal use of these drugs. These include confusion, memory loss, and hallucination.
Now the prescriptions of these drugs have rarely seen. Since some anti-depressants and antihistamines tend to have almost the same effect as the anticholinergics, so doctors prescribe them to older people who are suffering from this terrible disease. Once an individual experiences any of the serious severe symptoms, stop these drugs immediately.

Levodopa is a drug that was introduced in 1967 and is currently the most commonly used drug. It is used to help to restore the control over ones muscles. Levodopa is referred to as the gold standard of Parkinson’s treatment because it is usually used as the first line of defense. The reason a sufferer of Parkinson’s can’t just take Dopamine itself is because Dopamine cannot breakthrough the blood-brain barrier (A check point, composed of blood capillaries that allow specific substance entrance in brain). Levodopa can get through this barrier and is converted to Dopamine once it reaches the brain. It therefore increases the level of Dopamine and counters the effects of the disease.
Levodopa however has very serious side effects which include nausea and dyskinesias (involuntary movement). This occurs because only a small percentage of Levodopa actually reaches the brain that transformed into Dopamine. The rest of it is transformed into dopamine in the body. It is therefore becomes necessary to use Carbidopa, which delays the metabolism (Breakdown) of Levodopa until it reaches the dopaminergic neurons in the brain. Levodopa-Carbidopa combination helps to reduce the side effects caused by single use of Levodopa.
The other problem posed by the use of this drug is that its dosage needs to be increased over time. This makes it unreliable because its effects are not constant, patient may suffers from violent attacks while still under medication. The various side effects and unreliability of Levodopa leads to the necessity to combine it with various other drugs to make it more effective. Some of these drugs can be used on their own while others actually require to be used with the Levodopa-Carbidopa combination.

A Step to Synthetic Life

Researchers at the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) published results on Thursday 20,May 2010 describing the successful construction of the first self-replicating, synthetic bacterial cell. The synthetic cell is called Mycoplasma mycoides and is the proof of principle that genomes can be designed in the computer, chemically made in the laboratory and transplanted into a recipient cell to produce a new self-replicating cell controlled only by the synthetic genome.

Daniel Gibson and his colleagues at the J. Craig Venter Institute in Rockville, Maryland, synthesized the genome of the bacterium Mycoplasma codes, consisting of about 1.1 million base pairs. Having assembled the genome inside a yeast cell, they transplanted it into a cell from a closely related species, Mycoplasma capricolum. The success clears the way for developing and testing new variants of existing organisms.

“With this approach, we now have the ability to start with a DNA sequence and design organisms exactly like we want,” says Gibson. “We can get down to the very nucleotide level and make any changes we want to a genome.”

Gibson says that his team is now trying to make different types of synthetic cell, using different pairs of bacteria. The group also plans to use the approach to continue work on its project to create a ‘minimal’ cell that contains only the genes necessary for a cell’s most basic survival. “We finally have an assay for determining the functionality of a genome,” says Gibson. “So we want to start whittling away at this genome and try to determine the smallest number of genes needed to sustain life.”

Several companies are already seeking to take advantage of the new field, called synthetic biology, which combines chemistry, computer science, molecular biology, genetics and cell biology to breed industrial life forms that can secrete fuels, vaccines or other commercial and medicinal products. If you like to fix these issues with simple workouts, you can get a rowing machine after reading best rowing machine reviews and start working out at home.

How Scientists Synthesize the Synthetic DNA

To make the synthetic cell, a team of 25 researchers at labs in Rockville, Md., and San Diego, led by bioengineer Daniel Gibson and Mr. Venter, essentially turned computer code into a new life form. They started with a species of bacteria called Mycoplasma capricolum and, by replacing its genome with one they wrote themselves, turned it into a customized variant of a second existing species, called Mycoplasma mycoides, they reported.

To begin, they wrote out the creature’s entire genetic code as a digital computer file, documenting more than one million base pairs of DNA in a biochemical alphabet of adenine, cytosine, guanine and thymine. They edited that file, adding new code, and then sent that electronic data to a DNA sequencing company called Blue Heron Bio in Bothell, Wash., where it was transformed into hundreds of small pieces of chemical DNA, they reported.

To assemble the strips of DNA, the researchers said they took advantage of the natural capacities of yeast and other bacteria to meld genes and chromosomes in order to stitch those short sequences into ever-longer fragments until they had assembled the complete genome, as the entire set of an organism’s genetic instructions is called. They transplanted that master set of genes into an emptied cell, where it converted the cell into a different species.

Effect of Smoking on Breathing in Exercise

Smoking is bad habit for health. Although it increases the performance in given time but it has more deteriorative effects as compare to its benefits.  Smoking through any source, contain nicotine as a main ingredient which produce some of its effects on our body. Besides Nicotine, Smoking contains about 300 carcinogenic substances (Cancer causing) and other particles that can provoke the Cancer and other diseases related to lungs and heart. In this article one of the effect of smoking have discussed which is common in our society. Some people use to smoke after or before starting the exercise. This is quite common in young generation.

It is widely known that smoking can decrease an Athletic or a person performance gradually. This is true for many reasons,

1st, One effect of nicotine is constriction of the terminal bronchioles of the lungs, which increases the resistance of air flow into and out of the lungs causing difficulty in breathing when we require more oxygen form air.

2nd, The irritating effects of the smoke itself cause increase fluid secretion into bronchioles tree, as well as some swelling of the epithelial linings. This may provoke the inflammation and causes difficulty in breathing and may results into respiratory diseases.

3rd, Nicotine paralyzes the cilia (Cilia act as Filters for trapping the particles from air coming into lungs) on the surfaces of the respiratory epithelial cells that normally beat continuously to remove excess fluids and foreign particles form the respiratory passage ways. As a result, much debris accumulates in the passage ways and adds further to the difficulty of breathing. Putting all these factors together, even a light smoker often feels respiratory strain during maximal exercise, and the level of performance may be reduced.

Much more severe are the effects of chronic smoking. There are few chronic smokers in whom some degree of Emphysema doesn’t develop. In this disease, the following occur:

  1. Chronic bronchitis.
  2. Obstruction of many of the terminal bronchioles.
  3. Destruction of many alveolar walls, in severe Emphysema, as much as four fifths of respiratory membrane can be destroyed. Then even the slightest exercise can cause respiratory distress. In fact, many such patients cannot even perform the simple feat of walking across the floor of a single room without gasping for breath.

Dark Chocolates May Protect Brain After Stroke

Researchers at John; Hopkins have discovered that a compound in dark chocolate may protect the brain idler a stroke by increasing cellular signals already known to shield nerve cells from damage.

Ninety minutes after feeding mice a single modest dose of epicatechin (a compound found naturally in dark chocolate), the scientists induced an ischemic stroke by essentially cutting  blood supply to the animal brains. They found that the animal suffered significantly less brain damage than the ones that had not been given the compound.

While   most   treatments against stroke in humans have to be given within a 2-3 hours time Window to be effective; epicatechin appeared to limit further neuronal, damage when given to mice 3.5 hours after a stroke. Given six hours after a stroke, however, the compound offered no protection to brain cells.

Sylvain Dore, Ph.D., associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine and: pharmacology and molecular sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, says his study suggests that epicatechin stimulates two previously well-established pathways known to shield nerve cells in the brain from damage. When the stroke hits, the brain is ready to protect itself because these pathways – Nrf2 and home oxygenase 1 — are activated.

The study now appears online in the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and

Eventually,   Dore says, he hopes his research into these pathways could lead to insights into limiting acute stroke damage and possibly protecting against chronic neurological degenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related cognitive disorders.
